- Warts are estimated to occur in up to 10 percent of children and young adults.1
- Warts are passed from person to person, or indirectly when both people come in contact with a surface, such as a floor or desk.2
- Warts are more commonly spread in seasons with warmer temperatures.
- Warts can appear anywhere on your body. Common warts usually grow on the fingers, around the nails and on the backs of the hands. Foot warts are usually on the soles of the feet and are called plantar warts.3
- The best way to prevent warts is to wash your hands regularly with soap and hot water and avoid touching or irritating body areas with warts.4
